Welcome this summer

Booking for SFO and kindergarden

These rules apply in as of the 2nd of June and until the 20th of August.

Stavanger Museum and the Norwegian Museum of Childhood are quite popular destinations for SFO-groups, kindergartens and other visitors during the summer holidays, and it is therefore important that such groups pre-book their visit. This is especially important this year, with regards to upholding the rules and regulation aimed to minimise infection risk in public spaces. As such, groups that have not pre-booked their visit risk being denied access.

The visit is free of charge, and you can book via the e-mail address above, which is manned during the museums opening hours. Groups that apply first will be prioritised if more than one group desires the same timeslot. The visiting group must have 1 responsible adult for every 8th child and may stay at the museum for up to 2 hours per group.

Upon your arrival at the museum, you will be met by a museum guide, who will walk you through the museum’s rules. After this, your groups will be asked to divide itself into groups of 8 children and 1 adult, and to spread out in different exhibitions. We recommend taking a look at our exhibitions beforehand on our website, as this will help you plan your visit and how best to divide the groups and rotate them. Guided tours and school programs are unfortunately not available during the summer holiday.

During the summer holiday, groups will not be able to use the museum café but will have access to our spacious museum gardens and cultural historical playground.

Museum rules:

  • Explore the museum together with your designated group. Said groups is always accompanied by an adult.
  • Do not run.
  • Do not yell.
  • Do not bring food into the exhibitions.
  • Do not touch the exhibits (The Norwegian Children’s Museum is here exempted).
  • Remember to tidy away anything you may use during your visit.

Other points of note due to Corona:

  • The museum will only be able to host one group per day. Exemptions to this will be made if the groups are from the same SFO or kindergarten.
  • Max. Group size is 30 people. This includes supervising adults.
  • The groups must be closely supervised by the accompanying adults, to ensure that safety regulation are followed.
  • The museum has removed loose toys and costumes, as well as closed of certain parts of some exhibitions to reduce risk of infection.
